Some of the later generation haldex units do not have a filter to replace, however they are very common for the haldex pump gauze to congeal with oil thus making the haldex pump run dry and causing premature wear. We like preventive repairs here at Kent automotive to save you money so we remove this pump and clean the gauze filter as part of every haldex service we do. We also take photos before and after this procedure to show you the evidence. This is something that main dealers refuse to clean as it is not part of the manufacture guidelines of a haldex service.
After any haldex service is complete we run a Haldex prime function using Odis diagnostics this is because the haldex will initially run dry for a few seconds when engaged and again stops premature wear of the haldex pump internals once we have completed the service.
